The Garden Trail Crew

These are the core CAMBr West members that make it all happen. From digging and building to organizing events and giving presentations to the city… We put in countless hours every year to keep our trails open and running.

Tim Hovey

Tim Hovey Trail Coordinator

Tim works with Jeremy on all top-level responsibilities of keeping the trails fun, safe and legal. He reports directly to the CAMBr-West Board and the Chicago Park District (CPD) and attends monthly board meetings with the Clark Park Advisory Council (CPAC). Tim is often seen with a shovel in one hand, and an extremely large chainsaw in the other.

Doug plays a huge role in keeping the jump lines running smooth. He's always at the trails making things bigger and better, and throwing down huge between shovelfuls.
Bike: Brown BMX

Dom Vasquez

Dom Vasquez Pump Track Trailboss

Dom—originally from San Antonio, Texas—loves to ride and has been working here for over 5 years making the place fun and rideable for all. Dom cherishes this riding spot, and knows that with more help and support, The Garden will grow into an even more dialed and awesome place to ride.

Jon maintains the tool inventory, coordinates and receives deliveries, and puts in lots of dig hours with the other trailbosses to keep everything up and running.
Bike: Black .243 Racing

Cully Radvillas

Cully Radvillas Trailboss

Cully is always at the trails digging and riding… and probably owns more bikes than he can count. Look for him killing the main line and sculpting his mustache… at the same time.
Bike: Yellow Union Street

Scott Vargo

Scott Vargo Trailboss

Scott relocated from Cincinnati three years ago and has been digging and riding The Garden ever since. The weekday-after-work-jump-sesh has his name written all over it.
Bike: Red Revell 450r

Rex Harris

Rex Harris Trailboss

You'll only see Rex out at The Garden from time to time as he's constantly busy attempting to build a life-size replica of the Taj Mahal out of popsicle sticks. If you do spot this illustrious character at the jumps, feel free to strike up some intellectual conversation regarding comic books, sushi, and the meaning of life.
Bike: Gray DK

Jimmy Dean

Jimmy Dean Senior Grom

Jimmy is responsible for grom-like tasks that nobody else wants to do, or delegating those tasks to groms of lesser stature. He's expected to be around pretty much always and never talk back to his superiors.
Bike: Black BlkMrkt Riot

Keith Streble

Keith Streble Online Marketing

Keith handles the strategy, design, and development of The Garden website and other online marketing initiatives. If he's not riding, he's designing... and if he's not designing, he's probably dead.

Built by Hand

Volunteer

Our jumps, trails, and the surrounding landscape are all built, maintained, and kept clean by the CAMBr West crew and other volunteers. If you like what we have going and want to help the cause, come out and grab a shovel!

Safety

Work is only to be conducted when a staff member is present. Staff members are responsible for managing tools, the work being performed, and the safety of all volunteers. Diggers age 17 and under must have their parents sign a waiver.

IMBA Build Standards

When designing and building our trails we follow IMBA trail building standards to control erosion, water runoff, and impact on tree roots. Learn more about responsible trail building at IMBA.

Dirt Delivery

Bringing in truckloads of dirt is the best way to minimize impact on local plant and animal life. (Many thanks to Lake Street Landscape Supply for donating countless truckloads of dirt.) If you come out to build, don't dig from the ground. Only work with the stuff that was delivered.

Tools

Work is only to be completed with tools kept in the storage container, which can be unlocked by any of the trailbosses. Shovels, wheelbarrows, brooms, rakes, buckets and watering cans are funded by CAMBr West and are available for all to use.

Water

The trails take about 3 days to dry up after a good rain. These are the best days to do some building or maintenance. On dry days, we haul buckets of water from the Chicago River which runs alongside Clark Park.
